A raffia hat from Madagascar is not just a beach hat. It is a piece that has been woven by hand, fibre by fibre, in a workshop in Madagascar, not rushed, not made in series. The raffia we use is a natural fibre from the Raphia farinifera palm, native to the island. It is lightweight, breathable, strong, and ages well, better than most synthetic materials that fall apart after a second summer. Our hats come in different silhouettes: the wide brim for sun protection, the shorter structured shape for the city, leather-trimmed versions for a more polished look. All are woven to order, which means none of them sit waiting in a warehouse, each one is made for you and shipped directly from Madagascar in two to three weeks.
